The Vanguard is one of Kristian Kiel’s classic designs inspired by the wrist watches’ ancestor, the pocket watch. The Vanguards’ curved, over-sized numbers, detailed case, and pumpkin crown represent that of an old-fashioned pocket-watch. The Vanguard takes us back in time to when the pocket watch was an all-time favourite while offering a modern design.
 
The round, curved case and glass with the oval lug connecting the case to the strap characterises the pocket-watch bow where the chain would hang off from.
 
The Vanguard’s pumpkin-detailed crown is typical of the renowned pocket watch, however its two pushers and date function reveal its modern chronograph function.  The brown leather strap adds to the sophistication of this classical timepiece.
 
The dial has three sub-dials either performing a seconds, minutes, or hours function, allowing manual timing. Additionally, there is a date function. The dial is unique thanks to its magnified, curved numbers representing hours, and smaller numbers displaying minutes. The stylish, metallic blue handles add a modern touch to this timeless piece.
 
The Vanguards contrasting modern and retro style is well suited for the stylish person and can nicely compliment a classy outfit. Nevertheless, its modern nature could easily fit in with the smart-casual look.
